Automotive Service
FACILITY:
Midwest Automobile Dealership
PROBLEMS:
- The existing 11 unit heaters in the shop and service bay area could not adequately handle the winter heating load.
- Poor indoor air quality from re-circulated air containing contaminants from both the cars and the unit heaters themselves.
- Cold service bay door area.
- The outside air introduced into the building was not enough to offset either their poor indoor air quality or negative building pressure problems.
- High operating and maintenance costs for a heating system that did not meet their needs.
- Several unit heaters had to be replaced each heating season - "These things were getting eaten alive" lamented the Property Manager.
SOLUTIONS:
- Replaced the 11 unit heaters with 3 Cambridge direct gas-fired heaters which provided both the heat and some of the ventilation air they needed.
RESULTS:
- The high temperature rise of Cambridge heaters provided the required heating and solved the cold service bay door area problem.
- Improved indoor air quality because Cambridge heaters use 100% Fresh Air and do not recirculate contaminated building air.
- Installed costs for 3 Cambridge heaters was virtually the same as for replacing the 11 unit heaters.
- Lower maintenance costs including fewer man hours for upkeep.
- Improved aesthetics and the Cambridge heaters do not get in the way of the shop, service bay lights, or car lifts.
- Increased shop productivity.
- Lower fuel bills and lower operating costs.
Cambridge direct gas-fired heaters have been used to heat automobile and truck service bay areas at the following dealerships located throughout the United States and Canada.
